About Kigluaik Adventures

A trip these mountains will be etched in your memory forever. Open arctic vistas, musx ox, caribou, moose and other northern fauna can be viewed during your trip into the Kigluaik range and surrounding hills. From the summits you'll gaze out into the Bering Sea toward the international date line and beyond to eastern Eurasia. The slopes runs from fairly gentle, long descents to steep chutes and narrow couloirs. Mornings you may be skiing boot-deep, dry powder on the north aspects while afternoon skiing might lead to sun-filled southern slopes of perfect corn snow. Weather is generally mild, though skiers need to be prepared for the full range of Arctic conditions.

Kigluaik Adventures (Kig-loo-ake) is named after the mountain range lying 20 miles north of Nome, Alaska. This range was formed by a violent thrust fault and the north aspects of the range present a challenging terrain of couloirs, chutes, and nearly vertical faces. Lower angle slopes are accessed during the day trips from Nome and provide the adventurer with unobstructed arctic vistas and ample opportunity for big game viewing.

Bering Straits Native Corporation, through Kigluaik Adventures, is offering the unique opportunity for intrepid travelers to ski at the westernmost fringe of the North American continent. Looking west across Bering Strait, you’ll be able to gaze into tomorrow, with Eastern Eurasia a mere 60 miles away. Truly, "The West Ends Here."

Single and multi-day snowcat excursions are available. You can arrange an unguided trip by scheduling a drop off and pick up in the range with Kigluaik Adventures.
