Wachusett is one of the leading ski resorts in northern Massachusetts, well-known as a place to learn to ski or ride. More Bostonians probably have learned to ski here than at any other single ski area in the country. Wachusett's Learning Center employs more than 250 instructors each year, and the area's entire staff is exceptionally committed to everyone's on-hill enjoyment. The Learn to Turn packages offer a tremendous value for first-timers. Wachusett is well known for its kids programs. For kids, be sure and meet Orson, the Polar Bear. Then, put your 4 to 12-year-olds in the Polar Kids program that has its own dedicated carpet lift to get kids accustomed to having something other than sneakers on their feet.

With 22 trails cascading down from the 2,006 foot summit, Wachusett combines a big mountain resort atmosphere with a convenient close-to- home ski area. With 100% snowmaking and night skiing daily until 10 p.m., Wachusett is near Worcester, Boston and Providence so it’s convenient for skiers and snowboarders from throughout southern New England. Wachusett features 8 lifts – including 3 high speed quad chairlifts and a triple chair – and a spectacular base lodge with private Mountain Suites.

Wachusett has been making its mark among skiing families since the early seventies when Ralph Crowley, a Worcester native and owner of the Polar Beverage Co., leased the land from the Massachusetts Environmental Management Division. Trails had been cut on the hill in the thirties by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Ralph’s children – Jeff, David and Carolyn – run the resort these days.
