Home to the longest ski season in New Mexico, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort offers a natural mountain terrain, perfect for all ability levels. From green and blue groomed cruisers to the steeps and powder stashes found above Lift 1, this mountain has something for everyone. What’s more is that you can access it all without waiting in a lift line nearly all season long.

Sipapu’s philosophy is to be the most family-friendly resort in the Rockies, and guests have been bringing their children and grandchildren to our mountain since 1952. Our resort is small enough so that kids won’t get lost, and our laid-back style is perfect for families looking to simply enjoy a family vacation they can afford.

Sipapu also provides the perfect place to learn to ski, snowboard and more. If it’s your first time on the slopes, come to Sipapu and get your first three lessons for FREE!

Located just 20 miles southeast of Taos, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort is New Mexico’s fastest growing resort (yet you won’t wait in line for a lift).

Both first-time and returning guests alike appreciate the quintessential mountain life found only at Sipapu: a fun, friendly mountain (where your kids won’t get lost, perfect for skiers and boarders of all skill levels); clean, simple accommodations (no in-room TVs or phones – we believe families should connect with each other, not over their electronics); and the best deals around, which allows everyone to have the family vacation they want at prices they can easily afford.

Recent Improvements
First to Open in New Mexico: Opening Date at Sipapu is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2014. This year will mark the 12th consecutive season that Sipapu has opened before any other ski area in the state. Historically, Sipapu offers New Mexico's longest ski season as well (we are known for being the first to open and last to close).

Improved Tree Skiing: On Sipapu’s slopes, guests will discover incredible steeps, untracked powder (that locals know will stick around for days after a storm) and some of the best tree skiing in the state. For the upcoming winter, mountain crews expanded its legendary tree skiing on Gamble Trees.

A New Lift: Late last fall, Sipapu installed a new lift - a magic carpet - on its Practice Slope. Sipapu’s newest lift is a 470-foot long magic carpet that rises 100 vertical feet while gliding flush along the surface of the snow. It offers novice skiers and snowboarders an easier way to hone their skills before they progress to more advanced terrain.

Dining

The adjacent lounge delivers only the top line of liquors, a huge assortment of beers and several local drafts. Happy Hour is from 4-6 p.m.
